Prater Construction has been delivering commercial and industrial projects across the Four-State Region for more than 30 years. What started as a straightforward commitment to quality work and straight dealing has grown into a full-service general contracting operation capable of handling projects from initial concept through final occupancy.
We’re locally owned and operated — which means the people making decisions about your project are the same people who live and work in this region. We know the codes, the subcontractor landscape, and the conditions that make construction in Southwest Missouri different from anywhere else.
Our work spans commercial construction, design-build delivery, renovations, capital improvements, and a broad range of self-performed trade scopes. We don’t subcontract accountability. Whatever the project requires, we own the outcome.

Chad has spent his career in commercial construction, building the kind of hands-on experience that only comes from running actual projects. He founded Prater Construction on the belief that owners deserve a contractor who communicates clearly, bids honestly, and delivers what they said they would.
That philosophy hasn’t changed. Chad stays involved in the work — not as a figurehead, but as someone who understands the details of what’s being built and what it takes to get it done right. When you work with Prater, you’re working with a team that takes the same ownership of your project that you do.
